Senators trade Namestnikov to Avalanche
The Colorado Avalanche acquired forward Vladislav Namestnikov from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for a 2021 fourth-round pick, the Senators announced Monday.
Namestnikov, 27, is in the final year of his current deal and is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
The Russian winger has 13 goals and 25 points through 54 games for the Senators this season. He can also play a role on the penalty kill, averaging 1:54 of shorthanded ice time per contest in 2019-20.
Namestnikov should serve as a minor upgrade for an Avalanche team that already ranks fourth in the league with an average of 3.46 goals for per game.
Ottawa also traded forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau to the New York Islanders for a trio of draft picks, some of which are conditional. The Senators now own at least 13 picks in the 2020 NHL Draft.
