McAvoy was assessed a two-minute minor for an illegal check to the head, avoiding a possible match penalty.
Boston won Game 6 on Monday to advance to the conference finals, with McAvoy logging the second-most ice time on the Bruins at 24:42. He said postgame that the check was a "hockey play."
