Josh Anderson's night has been cut short.
The Columbus Blue Jackets forward received a five-minute major and a game misconduct after boarding Washington Capitals defenseman Michal Kempny in their series-opening game Thursday:

The ejection came with less than three minutes remaining in the opening frame, and cost the Blue Jackets dearly, as Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetsov tallied twice on the ensuing extended power play.
Kempny left the game following the hit and did not return. The Capitals later announced that he would be re-evaluated Friday.
The Capitals carried a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
