Edmonton Oilers forward Patrick Maroon has been suspended two games for his hit on Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty on Tuesday night, the Department of Player Safety announced Wednesday.

Here's the play:

Doughty clearly never touched the puck, and Maroon made contact with his head, briefly forcing him out of the contest.

Maroon was given a match penalty for the hit. In 40 games this season, the 29-year-old has recorded 21 points.
