The Columbus Blue Jackets signed goaltender Matiss Kivlenieks to a three-year, entry-level contract Thursday, the team announced.
The 20-year-old is coming off his first season with the Sioux City Musketeers of the USHL, where he posted a miraculous 36-7-4-2 record with a 1.85 goals-against average, and a .932 save percentage.
Kivlenieks was named the USHL's Player of the Year and Goaltender of the Year. He also went 8-3-0 in the playoffs, posting a 2.08 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage.
