Last season, we rocked and rolled our way to the Super Bowl with music-themed Thursday Night Football player props, joyfully celebrating the start of a new NFL week. This year, we'll use an episode from "Must See TV" cornerstone "Seinfeld" each week to remind us that betting is supposed to be fun, even when an absurd series of events leads to a losing bet.

"Do you have a job? No. You got money? No. Do you have a woman? No. Do you have any prospects? No. Do you got anything on the horizon? Uh, no. Do you have any action at all? No. Do you have any conceivable reason for even getting up in the morning? ... I'm going to California, I've got the bug." - Kramer trying to convince George to come to Los Angeles with him.

In the third season finale of "Seinfeld," the group argues about their spare keys because Kramer misused the power of access to Jerry's apartment. As a result of the conflict, Kramer takes off for Los Angeles, yearning for more out of life.

"The Keys"

The Rams are all employed, they're probably good for money, and their relationships are probably fine. However, without three stars and with a dearth of draft picks, they don't have any prospects or anything on the horizon, and their games involve very little action. Meanwhile, the Raiders have the playoff bug after three straight wins.

Josh Jacobs looked ready to pack his bags after falling down the depth chart in the preseason. In Week 4, though, the Raiders gave Derek Carr's spare keys to the offense to Jacobs. They ramped up his snap count from 65% to 80%, and they handed him the ball more than 20 times for the first time all season.

Jacobs has cashed the over in six of nine games since, and he now leads the league in rushing. However, those teams rank 20th, 27th, 13th, 28th, and 32nd in yards per carry (YPC) allowed. Meanwhile, he's been held under 80 yards against the Colts (7th), Jaguars (8th), and Saints (18th, but best run defense last season).

Jacobs' yardage total for this game is the highest of the season despite the Rams ranking fourth in opponents' YPC. Plus, the Rams are fourth worst in opponents' passer rating.

After seeing Geno Smith throw for 367 yards with a 71.7% pass completion, Carr should be excited to drop back without the threat of Aaron Donald swallowing him whole. He'll chop up the Rams' defense like a Ginsu knife, limiting Jacobs.

Pick: Josh Jacobs under 87.5 rush yards

A TD that's definitely going to happen

In his quest to become an actor in Hollywood, Kramer wasted no time in getting a guest role on the 90's sitcom "Murphy Brown." One of the running gags on that show was how quickly Murphy disposed of her assistants. The Rams are running through quarterbacks in a similarly expeditious fashion, so it's nearly impossible to make a case for a valuable bet on anyone to score for Los Angeles at short odds. It's the Raiders that have one of the league's go-to scorers.

Davante Adams is tied for first in receiving touchdowns. With the Rams' pass defense vulnerable, we shouldn't be as coy as Newman was in breaking Kramer's departure to Jerry. Adams has 12 touchdowns in 12 games, scoring in eight of those (66%). That small sample size suggests this line should be around -200. While that's an exaggeration, the matchup sets up well for Adams to add to his count.

Pick: Davante Adams anytime touchdown (bet up to -115)

A TD that probably won't happen ... but maybe it does

The group's argument over the spare keys is just as much of a head-shaker as the Rams' personnel usage on offense.

L.A. did move the ball at times against the Seahawks, and the Raiders' defense is dead last in the league in opponents' passer rating. Whether it's John Wolford, Bryce Perkins, or Baker Mayfield, there should be some room in Vegas' secondary. L.A.'s second tight end, Brycen Hopkins, has had anywhere from six to 22 snaps since the Rams' Week 8 bye. He has just two catches on only five targets in that time, but that's why he's 12-1 at theScore Bet. So, even though we'd be as surprised to see him score as Jerry is to find Kramer in his bathtub, we'll take a shot that he's something of a secret weapon in the red zone.

Pick: Brycen Hopkins anytime touchdown (+1200)

How to bet: The first two bets should be single-unit wagers to win a unit on minus prices and more than a unit on a plus-money bet. The last wager should be smaller, trying to win back your standard unit size.

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford missed the remainder of Sunday's 27-20 loss to the New Orleans Saints after leaving the game in the third quarter to be evaluated for a concussion.

Stafford spent time in the medical tent before going to the locker room. The Rams didn't officially rule him out for the remainder of the contest but were forced to finish the day with Bryce Perkins under center.

Rams head coach Sean McVay said postgame he doesn't know whether Stafford will enter the concussion protocol again, according to Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic.

"We will make the decision that is best for Matthew," McVay added.

Stafford missed last week's loss to the Arizona Cardinals due to a concussion but was cleared to return earlier this week. The 34-year-old, who helped Los Angeles win the Super Bowl in his first year with the team last season, passed for 159 yards and two touchdowns against New Orleans before exiting.

Perkins was 5-for-10 passing with 64 yards. He also gained 39 yards on five rushing attempts.

The Rams dropped to 3-7 with Sunday's loss. They've now lost four in a row.

It's the preseason for everyone. The idea is to get some early reps, don't extend yourself, and don't get hurt. This applies to both players on the field and bettors in the sportsbook. With three weeks of tuneups on the schedule, we'll proceed with extreme caution while we stretch ourselves out. Remember, these games don't count, but the bets definitely do.

A robust start to preseason betting saw us go 6-3 (+3.1 units) in Week 1, and it could have been even better. Our best result from a closing line value standpoint - Chiefs +3.5 (closed -1) - lost, while we had a teaser busted because the Cowboys could muster only 10 points against the Broncos.

There are just four games to work with on Thursday and Friday as we use point spreads, underdog moneylines, totals, and six-point teasers to find value bets.

Best spread bet

Texans (-3) over Rams

This one opened with the Rams favored, and sometimes a point-spread move tells you everything you need to know about a preseason game. Sean McVay has never cared about the scoreboard in these games, even though the Rams sometimes win them. If this was the regular season, there would be a two-touchdown swing on the point spread, but the Texans' status as favorites here indicates Lovie Smith cares about winning.

Davis Mills, Jeff Driskel, and a willing running game with Dameon Pierce and Royce Freeman give Houston a lead, and L.A. doesn't get the same explosiveness from Bryce Perkins that it did late against the Chargers last week.

Underdog moneyline bet

Bears (+160) over Seahawks

What did the Seahawks do to deserve being favored by more than a field goal in the coin-flip games of the preseason? It didn't matter which of their three quarterbacks the Steelers used; they all lit up Seattle's defense. This is a chance for Justin Fields and the Bears' offense to gain the confidence they couldn't have earned in last week's lazy win against the Chiefs.

Either way, we're getting +160 in a game between two equally bad teams, and it's possible Matt Eberflus has more upside to work with this week. This is a buy-low opportunity on Chicago.

Best total bet

Saints/Packers under 40 points

Week 1 of the preseason was an "over" festival, with points coming at a perplexingly high rate. One theory is that an increase in the depth of quality players in the league, offensive style evolution, and rule changes favoring scoring form a combination impervious to mediocre quarterback play.

It may also just be sample-size variance. If that's the case, league-wide oddsmaker adjustments of a touchdown or more from last week to this week are an overreaction.

Maybe Jameis Winston plays one drive and leads the Saints to a touchdown, but Andy Dalton just did that last week; New Orleans never saw the end zone again, scoring six points total after Ian Book took over.

It's doubtful Aaron Rodgers plays this week, which means more Jordan Love and Danny Etling for the Packers. Those two combined for three touchdowns last week, which seems like the production ceiling for them. It appears unlikely that either team cracks 20 points, so this is where we may capitalize on the total overreaction.

Best teaser legs

Patriots +8 / Colts +8

Ok, we're cheating the format a bit with the Colts hosting the Lions in an early game on Saturday. But it's the preseason, and rules are a loose concept at best.

While the totals aren't last-week low, 40.5 points in New England and 39.5 in Indianapolis would still suggest a Stanford Wong teaser up over a touchdown on the Patriots and Colts if this was the regular season. Preseason or not, capturing key numbers in low-scoring matchups is still the name of this particular game.

College football is sport at its zaniest.

The coaches, the college towns, and the fact that games are played (mostly) by those between 18 and 21 years old contribute to Saturdays that are never dull. And with 130 teams in the Football Bowl Subdivision, you can't predict where the most memorable moments of the weekend will occur.

Each week this season, theScore is here to break it all down - from the good to the bad to the weird. Here's what happened in Week 10 and why it matters.

The good

Oregon

Georgia had the best weekend in terms of improving its resume. Memphis captured the most attention because of its spot on ESPN's College GameDay.

But was any performance on Saturday more impressive than Oregon's 56-24 win at USC?

Oregon trailed 10-0 after one quarter ... and then proceeded to outscore the Trojans by 42 on the road. As they've done all season, the Ducks paired one of the nation's best defenses with one of its best quarterbacks.

It's worth repeating: Oregon was nine seconds away from beating Auburn in Week 1. If Tigers quarterback Bo Nix didn't connect with Seth Williams - giving the Ducks a loss in a game they led the entire way - Oregon would be undefeated, likely ranked top five in the country, and in prime position to reach the College Football Playoff.

"Game control" was a popular talking point within the playoff committee a few years ago. It'll be interesting to see if that term comes into play when considering a Ducks team that looks like it belongs.

Bryce Perkins

Of the seven teams in the mediocre but fun ACC Coastal division, Virginia probably has the best chance of upsetting Clemson in a potential ACC championship game.

The Cavaliers haven't necessarily played like a team that can beat the Tigers this season. They'd lost three of four coming into Week 10, and quarterback Bryce Perkins' numbers had been way down compared to his 2018 season.

But Perkins was terrific on Saturday in Virginia's 38-31 win over North Carolina - a victory that put the Cavaliers back atop the Coastal. The pivot completed 30 of 39 passes for 378 yards and three touchdowns while running for a season-high 112 yards and two more scores. It was the first time Perkins averaged 4 yards per rush against an FBS opponent this year and his three passing touchdowns matched a career high.

Tennessee's bowl chances

The Volunteers spent many weeks in the "bad" category of this rundown. So, it's only fair that they're recognized for turning around their season.

Jeremy Pruitt's squad picked up another win Saturday by topping UAB 30-7 in a matchup that looked like a potential trap. Tennessee's defense was terrific, forcing four turnovers. The Volunteers have now won three of their last four games, with the only loss coming against Alabama.

As unlikely as it looked in mid-September, Tennessee has a legitimate shot to reach a bowl game. The Volunteers are still 4-5, but their last three games - at Kentucky, at Missouri, and versus Vanderbilt - are all winnable. It would cap quite the turnaround in Pruitt's second season after the Volunteers opened the year with home losses to Georgia State and BYU.

The bad

Florida State

Firing a coach after 21 games is one way to display dysfunction loud and clear.

That's exactly what Florida State did over the weekend by axing Willie Taggart a day after losing 27-10 to Miami (Fla.). Overall, Taggart went 9-12 with the FSU - 5-7 last season and 4-5 this year.

It's a tough outcome for Taggart, who successfully built programs at Western Kentucky and South Florida before moving on to Oregon for one season and then joining Florida State.

It's also a critical time for FSU, which once epitomized consistency in college football.

From 1982-2017, the Seminoles reached a bowl game in 36 consecutive seasons. But if FSU can't find a way to win two of three against Boston College, Alabama State, and Florida down the stretch, it will miss the postseason for the second consecutive year.

The program is also set to hire its third coach in four seasons. Though it's only been five years since Florida State reached the first College Football Playoff, that successful season couldn't feel further away.

Arkansas

It's hard to gain ground in an SEC West division that houses the top two teams in the country (LSU and Alabama), but Arkansas can't seem to take a single step forward.

The Razorbacks were steamrolled 54-24 by Mississippi State on Saturday in a seemingly winnable home game. The Bulldogs had lost four consecutive contests, but Arkansas fell behind 34-14 at halftime and couldn't recover.

With the latest defeat, second-year coach Chad Morris fell to 4-17 - and 0-14 in the SEC - since taking the job. As a program, the Razorbacks have lost 22 of their last 23 conference matchups. Since Arkansas won 11 games and reached the Cotton Bowl in 2011, it has finished with a losing SEC record in seven of eight seasons.

It could get worse. Arkansas is a slight favorite at home in Week 11 … against Western Kentucky. Afterward, the Razorbacks will be underdogs against LSU and Missouri in their final two games.

Northwestern

If nothing else, Northwestern's offense has been consistent.

In its last three games, the Wildcats produced 199, 202, and 199 yards against Ohio State, Iowa, and Indiana, respectively.

They also scored three, zero, and three points in those games. Saturday's 34-3 loss to Indiana extended Northwestern's touchdown-less streak to 13 quarters. Its last TD, a 2-yard run by Aidan Smith, came in the third quarter of a 13-10 loss to Nebraska on Oct. 5.

The Wildcats are now 1-7; they haven't lost eight games since Pat Fitzgerald's first season in 2006. They've scored 78 points this season, but 30 came in the lone win over UNLV on Sept. 14.

Northwestern also ranks last among the 130 FBS teams in scoring average with 9.8 points per game. You have to go way back to find the last Power 5 program that averaged single-digit points for an entire season. The 1999 South Carolina Gamecocks averaged 7.9 points and went 0-11.

The weird

There weren't many Halloween shenanigans in college football this weekend, but Mason Fine's costume was spectacular.

The North Texas quarterback, fresh off a 52-26 victory over UTEP, arrived for his postgame news conference looking like a dinosaur.

Fine, who passed for 332 yards and seven(!) touchdowns in Saturday's contest, proceeded to answer questions from inside the suit.

Derrick Brown coming out of nowhere

One of the weekend's most memorable plays happened by mistake.

Watch Auburn defensive tackle Derrick Brown - a first-round NFL talent - fly off the sideline to blow up a play in the Tigers' 20-14 win over Ole Miss:

The play was a mistake, but Brown's effect on the game was not. The senior has eight tackles for loss and four sacks this season.

Free bacon?

Typically, minor-league baseball teams use odd promotions to get fans into seats. However, Utah State's latest promo was right up there.

The Aggies offered 200 pounds of free bacon to fans who attended Saturday's Utah State-BYU game.

It wasn't the first time Utah State has offered free bacon. The program gave away 300 pounds of bacon to the first 1,500 fans in the door for the basketball team's home game against Nevada last year.

Unfortunately for Aggies fans, the bacon was the best part of Saturday's game. BYU won 42-14.
