Coldplay danced their way through one of the more colorful and safe halftime performances in Super Bowl history, but it was special guests Beyonce and Bruno Mars who stole the show.

Singer Chris Martin opened with a few lines from "Yellow" before launching into a playlist heavy on recent hits like "Paradise" and "Adventure of a Lifetime."

There was no "Left Shark," no wardrobe malfunction, and nothing especially memorable about the performance, but it was certainly well-received.

Then Mars showed up to drop some "Uptown Funk" on the crowd and a sea of drummers parted, revealing Beyonce, who took over with a performance of her brand-new single "Formation" before getting into a dance-off of sorts with Mars.

Coldplay finished things off with a performance of "Fix You" over a montage of the greatest performances in Super Bowl history. Martin changed the lyrics to honor past performers, including U2 and Prince, before being joined on stage by Mars and Beyonce to finish the show with "Up&Up."
