Former NFL tight end Jeremy Shockey was recently questioned by the FBI in regard to an international drug and gambling ring probe, according to Brad Hamilton of the New York Post.

Investigators met with Shockey at his home last week looking for connections to Owen Hanson, a former USC tight end thought to be close with several NFL players and other professional athletes.

"I thought he was in the real-estate business like me," Shockey told The New York Post. "I'm a straight businessman. I don't hang out with drug dealers or prostitutes. I'm here with my girlfriend making out, and I get a knock on my door from these agents. I said to them, 'Come on in. I got nothing to hide.'"

Shockey told investigators he first met Hanson at a pool party in Las Vegas, and that the two became friends thereafter.

"I thought he was a very smart, nice guy," he added. "He was single. He was so cool. He was on the phone all the time. He knew everybody - DJs, celebrities. Pete Carroll knows him. Reggie Bush knows him; they were teammates at USC. This guy had money. He had cash on him all the time. But I thought it was from his business. No one knew any of this s--t was going on."

Shockey continued, "I'm a drunk - I'm Irish. I've never had anything to do with drugs. And I would never do anything illegal to jeopardize what I've worked for."

Shockey played 10 seasons in the NFL from 2002-2011, spending time with the New York Giants, New Orleans Saints, and Carolina Panthers.

He earned four trips to the Pro Bowl over that span and was a part of two Super Bowl-winning teams.
