Police audio: Patriots' Jones was 'confused party,' required medical assistance
Audio recordings purported to be from early Sunday morning when New England Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones received medical treatment for an unspecified reason indicate police requested a mental evaluation for Jones, whom they called a "confused party."
The audio, obtained by Broadcastify.com and edited by Heavy.com to remove gaps, includes talk between a dispatcher and a police officer, both of whom seem to be unclear as to what assistance Jones requires, but acknowledge his altered state.
Jones, 25, arrived at the Foxboro Police Department at 7:42 a.m., the Boston Herald reports, and was taken to hospital shortly thereafter for a medical emergency that remains undisclosed.
"I got his keys off the kitchen table; I was able to lock the front door. If you want to just pass along to the fire, he was definitely involved with Class D, delta, before this happened, just so they know," an officer says on the recording, presumably after securing Jones' home while the player was receiving medical care.
"Class D" is likely a reference to narcotics.
Local police have declined to comment on the nature of Jones' medical emergency, citing privacy reasons.
