Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck's early-season injuries were apparently more significant than first thought.

Luck hasn't played since Week 10 due to kidney and abdominal injuries, but he also missed two games earlier in the season due to what the team attributed to a shoulder issue.

However, Luck was also dealing with torn cartilage in two of his ribs and needed pain-killing injections in order to play during the four games he played in late October and early November, Stephen Holder of the Indy Star reports.

There were reports Luck had been dealing with a rib issue, but he never appeared on the injury report because of that injury and was able to practice fully during that time.

Colts general manager Ryan Grigson denied it, and the NFL found no evidence of wrongdoing after conducting an investigation.

Luck didn't ever look completely healthy in his return in Week 7. He was reportedly limited by the rib injury, which caused him to struggle with things like his throwing motion, according to Holder.

The 26-year-old declined to comment when asked about the injuries.
