The New England Patriots are running out of offensive weapons ahead of a much-anticipated clash with the Denver Broncos.

Wide receiver Danny Amendola won't play on Sunday night, the team confirmed Saturday.

Amendola left the Patriots' Week 11 win over the Buffalo Bills with a knee injury, but his return to practice late in the week created optimism that he might play.

Instead, the Patriots will move forward with Brandon LaFell entrenched as one starting wideout and undrafted rookie Chris Harper likely on the other side of the field, a less-than-ideal situation with the Broncos' excellent defensive secondary on tap.
