Report: Bears' Alshon Jeffery in walking boot after straining calf
Chicago Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery is being called day to day with a strained calf and was seen on crutches and in a walking boot after the team's preseason opener Thursday, according to Adam Jahns of Chicago Sun-Times.
After beating the Miami Dolphins 27-10, head coach John Fox said Jeffery injured his calf in practice and is not sure when he'll be healthy enough to return, though the 2013 Pro Bowler is considered day-to-day.
Jeffery didn't play in the victory and it appears the Bears are being cautious with their star receiver. They're also without rookie first-round pick Kevin White, who's recovering from an injury.
Jeffery, a fourth-year pro, caught 85 passes for 1,133 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2014. With Brandon Marshall no longer getting No. 1 treatment in the Bears' offense, Jeffery is expected to be a big part of Jay Cutler's arsenal.
