Adrian Peterson's relationship with the Minnesota Vikings this offseason was not on the best of terms, but fans of the team are ready to move on.
Peterson arrived at training camp Saturday and was greeted by a chorus of cheers and "AP!" chants from Vikings fans. The running back told ESPN's Ben Goessling it was a good feeling after being away from the team for so long.
"It's definitely a good feeling to know that people do have your back," Peterson said. "But I'm sure it will take a while for this (last year) to get erased out of my memory."
Peterson made it known he wasn't pleased with the organization's support during his legal issues last season, but the 30-year-old insisted he's happy to still be in Minnesota.
"If that wasn't the case, I would have just played this year out, and not tried to redo a contract," Peterson said.
Vikings general manager Rick Spielman is ready to put the ordeal behind them and, like Peterson, he's focused on moving forward.
"The way I would describe it is, you become callous to a lot of things," Spielman said. "You go through it, and you just continue to work through the things. I think resiliency would be a good way to describe getting through everything, knowing in the end what is right - what is right for Adrian and what's right for the organization. I think everybody's looking forward to moving on."
