Recently-released linebacker Joe Mays could be staying in the AFC West.

After being cut by the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this month, Mays will be meeting with the San Diego Chargers, according to Alex Marvez of FOX Sports.

The move saved the Chiefs $2.7 million against the cap, and if the Chargers bring him in, it would likely be as a backup to Manti Te'o.

Mays missed half of the 2014 season due to injury, recording just 20 tackles in eight games.
