Ex-girlfriend of Cowboys' Joseph Randle granted protective order
The former girlfriend of Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle was granted a temporary protective order on Friday, according to Todd Archer of ESPN.
The order was filed on the same day Randle was arrested in Wichita, Kan. for marijuana possession. Wichita police have since dropped the drug charge.
Dalia Jacobs, who has a child with Randle, claims he pointed a handgun at her friend while they were sitting inside a vehicle. Randle proceeded to smash one of the windows, causing glass to shatter across Jacobs' friend and child, according to the order.
"Joseph puts his gun up. He walks back to the car, he looks in it, and then he just punches it with his fist," Jacobs told CBS affiliate KWCH. "Glass splatters everywhere. There's glass in my son's hair. It hit him and that's when he starts crying."
Witchita police responded to a call of domestic violence with a weapon at 3 a.m. Tuesday and found Randle and a 22-year-old woman arguing inside a hotel room. They also observed marijuana in the room.
Jacobs said she first told police it was a misunderstanding, but the officers had a sense there was more to the incident and asked if she was afraid to say what really happened. She eventually told the officers the truth.
Wichita police confirmed they're still looking into the matter of domestic violence.
Jacobs said she has been trying to get Randle to pay child support for months. On Thursday, he was served with child support paperwork for the first time.
"He needs to step up and also help me take care of the child we made together," Jacobs said.
The Cowboys have yet to comment on the matter.
