Defensive coaches have been a topic of discussion in the San Francisco 49ers' head coaching interviews, as the team is preparing for the loss of defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com reported.
Fangio was the first candidate to interview for the 49ers' head coaching vacancy, but all signs seem to point toward a mutual parting.
NFL Media's Mike Silver reported Tuesday that Fangio has decided that unless he or former Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan get the 49ers' head coaching job, he wants out of San Francisco.
