Jets' Chris Johnson had 2 guns in vehicle at time of arrest

Court records show that New York Jets running back Chris Johnson was in possession of two handguns when he was arrested Friday in his hometown of Orlando, Fla.

Johnson has a licence to carry the weapons in Florida, and was arrested for the open carrying of weapons/firearms, not carrying without a license.

He was arrested around 8:56 p.m. ET, after a police officer noticed his vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign, according to the arrest affidavit.

"The vehicle just drove through the stop sign and proceeded to turn left (east) onto West Jefferson Street," arresting officer Michael Mislang wrote in his report, according to NJ.com. "I conducted a traffic stop at West Pine Street and South Parramore Avenue and the following events occurred.

"I approached the vehicle on the driver's side. I immediately saw the handle of a handgun on the floor between the driver's feet. It was a black semi-automatic handgun. I told the driver, later identified as suspect Christopher Johnson, not to reach towards the firearm and informed him that I saw it. I also noticed a black backpack with $100 bills on the outside as a design sitting between his feet as well."

According to the report, Mislang then asked Johnson if there were any other weapons in the vehicle, to which he responded, "No, that is the only one."

After removing Johnson from the vehicle, Mislang said it seemed as though he was holding something back. Mislang asked Johnson if there was anything he wanted to tell him and he replied, "Yeah, there was actually a second gun in the bag on the floor," the report states.

Johnson rushed for a career-low 663 yards and one touchdown in 2014, his first season with the Jets.
