Giants head coach Tom Coughlin reportedly met with general manager Jerry Reese on Thursday to discuss the fate of his coaching staff. It was widely rumored that Gilbride, a longtime assistant of Coughlin, would be fired by the team, so it appears he chose to end things on his own terms.
According to a source, Gilbride had been mulling retirement for a while. Unclear if recent developments pushed him over the edge.
