New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson revealed Friday that he suffered an "unexpected and unusual" medical emergency that required him to be hospitalized for several days.
"Recently, I experienced an unexpected and unusual medical emergency involving a series of unexplained neurological symptoms that required hospitalization for several days," Henderson said in a statement.
"During that time, I underwent extensive medical testing and evaluation. While the results of my comprehensive medical testing have come back positive and reassuring, the cause of this remains unknown and unexplainable."
Henderson added that the medical emergency has affected his physical abilities.
"I will continue working closely with specialists and physical therapists to focus on my recovery, as these symptoms have affected my strength, coordination, and some of my physical functions," he said. "I am committed to doing everything necessary to return to full health. My health and long-term well-being remain my foremost priorities."
Henderson last played in a Week 7 game against the Chicago Bears on Oct. 22. New England ruled him out of last week's game against the Miami Dolphins due to an illness.
Selected by the Patriots in the second round of the 2025 draft, Henderson has rushed for 1,114 yards and 10 touchdowns since entering the league.
