Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has turned in paperwork to be reinstated, his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Rosenhaus said Aiyuk will return to the 49ers' facility Friday.
"Brandon is healthy and ready to get back on the field," Rosenhaus added.
The 49ers placed Aiyuk on the reserve/left team list in December after he stopped showing up at the team facility while recovering from a torn ACL. The 28-year-old hired Rosenhaus as his new agent this week with the intention of returning to the NFL.
San Francisco general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan have said the team doesn't plan to keep Aiyuk on the roster. The 49ers can release or trade Aiyuk once he officially rejoins them. The NFL trade deadline is Nov. 10.
Aiyuk made a push to join the Washington Commanders during the offseason. However, the Commanders are not expected to be in the market for Aiyuk, according to ESPN's Dan Graziano.
Aiyuk hasn't played since October 2024. The two-time 1,000-yard wideout set a career high with 1,342 yards in 2023 en route to earning a second-team All-Pro berth.
