Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson will require surgery for the thumb injury he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Buffalo Bills and will be placed on injured reserve, head coach Jesse Minter said postgame, per FOX Baltimore's Morgan Adsit.

The injury could "potentially" end Jackson's season, Minter added. He's required to miss at least four games by going on IR.

Jackson sustained the injury on Baltimore's first offensive play, when his hand hit a Bills defender as he followed through on a pass attempt.

Ravens backup quarterback Tyler Huntley also suffered a toe injury in the second quarter and didn't return, forcing third-stringer Joe Fagnano to play most of the game. An undrafted rookie out of UConn, Fagnano completed 10-of-21 pass attempts for 91 yards and an interception in the 36-10 loss.

Minter didn't offer a postgame update on Huntley.

Baltimore is 3-1 this season when Jackson has been healthy enough to play most of a game, and 1-3 when he hasn't. Jackson missed the last three contests with an ankle injury and was making his return Sunday.

The Ravens face a quick turnaround with their next game coming on Thursday Night Football against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
