The Atlanta Falcons signed defensive tackle Gervon Dexter to a four-year, $78-million contract extension that includes $46.5 million guaranteed, his agents told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Dexter has made a strong early impression on the Falcons after the team acquired him in an August trade with the Chicago Bears for cornerback Clark Phillips and a 2027 fifth-round draft pick.
Through three games with Atlanta, the 24-year-old has recorded seven tackles, three QB hits, and 0.5 sacks.
Dexter posted 13.5 sacks and 10 tackles for loss across 49 contests with the Bears, starting for the club in 2024 and 2025.
Falcons general manager Ian Cunningham was the Bears' assistant GM when Chicago drafted Dexter 53rd overall in 2023.
Dexter joined the Falcons to help shore up their run defense. Atlanta also signed defensive linemen Da'Shawn Hand and Chris Williams in the offseason to bolster the interior defensive line. Hand is currently on injured reserve, and Williams was waived on Aug. 31.
