Arizona Cardinals running back Jeremiyah Love is expected to make his NFL debut Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Love has been dealing with an ankle injury he suffered in Arizona's first preseason game Aug. 13. The rookie rusher was a limited participant in practice all week and had been listed as questionable for the season opener.
The 21-year-old rushed for 58 yards on 11 carries while adding 14 yards as a receiver before exiting the preseason game a few weeks ago. It's unclear what his workload will be in Week 1.
The Cardinals are hoping Love can boost a ground attack that finished 27th in explosive run rate and EPA per designed rush last season, according to TruMedia. They didn't have a player exceed 350 rushing yards last season; Michael Carter, who's no longer on the roster, led the team with just 333 yards.
Love was selected third overall in the 2026 draft out of Notre Dame after a stellar college career. He ran for a combined 2,497 yards in his final two years with the Fighting Irish, and his 35 rushing touchdowns during that span ranked first in the nation.
Arizona-Los Angeles kicks off at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday.
