The Philadelphia Eagles are installing a new offense around quarterback Jalen Hurts this season, but they still plan to use their signature play.
First-year coordinator Sean Mannion said Saturday that his offensive unit will still feature the tush push.
"It's going to be a part of what we do," Mannion said, according to ESPN's Tim McManus. "It's been an extremely effective play here. We're going to lean into that. It's something this organization has executed at a high level."
No other NFL team has had as much success running the tush push as the Eagles, who owned a 96.6% conversion rate in fourth-and-1 situations from 2022-24.
The team made several changes after regressing offensively last year. Philadelphia parted ways with offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo and longtime offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland, who was replaced by former Minnesota Vikings assistant Chris Kuper.
Mannion has notably been focused on implementing a system with more play-action and under-center plays, two unusual elements of Philadelphia's 2025 offense. The Eagles ran the sixth-fewest plays under center last year, according to NBC Sports Philadelphia's Dave Zangaro. They also ranked in the bottom 10 for play-action rate, per Sharp Football Analysis.
Hurts said this week that the Eagles are "calibrating" Mannion's new system during training camp, adding that he's "excited" about it, according to CBS Philadelphia.
