The Chicago Bears are releasing former Pro Bowl linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Chicago had granted Edmunds permission to seek a trade in February.

Cutting Edmunds gives the Bears an additional $15 million in cap space heading into the new league year. He was slated to earn $13.9 million in 2026.

The move follows Chicago's reported trade of wideout DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills.

Edmunds, 27, spent the last three seasons in Chicago, where he recorded 190 tackles, two sacks, and nine interceptions across 45 games.
