Hutchinson: Lions trading for Crosby would be 'dream scenario'
Detroit Lions star Aidan Hutchinson admitted it would be exciting if his team traded for five-time Pro Bowler Maxx Crosby.
"The idea of it is incredibly promising," Hutchinson recently told Casino Guru News' DJ Siddiqi. "That sounds like a dream scenario to be playing alongside a beast like that. I was answering the same questions last year about Myles Garrett, so I don't know the reality of this situation and how real this actually is, especially given our GM - if you listen to him talk a little bit about edge rushers, I don't know. It doesn't sound like it'd be something they pursue.
"But you never know what they do. There's also the money and cash situation. I know we got a lot of young, promising talent on our team that they're going to pay this offseason. I'm just happy I am not involved in that, because all that stuff goes a little over my head. I just want to play ball."
Speculation about Crosby's future with the Las Vegas Raiders heated up after he reportedly became upset with the team for shutting him down for the final two games of the 2025 regular season due to a knee injury. New Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak said he had a cup of coffee with the disgruntled star shortly after he was hired.
Hutchinson said he and Crosby occasionally exchange direct messages on social media and have encountered each other in person "a couple times." The Lions standout praised Crosby's persistence, describing him as "very motivational" despite playing on a Raiders team that hasn't been consistently competitive.
Acquiring Crosby would give the Lions one of the most formidable defensive end tandems in the NFL. The 28-year-old tallied 28 tackles for loss and 10 sacks in 2025. Meanwhile, Hutchinson posted a career-high 14.5 sacks last season after his 2024 campaign was cut short by injury.
However, pairing the two Michigan natives may be tricky given the Lions' salary-cap situation.
Crosby has four years remaining on his current deal after signing an extension in March 2025 worth $106.5 million. Detroit is currently $9.6 million over the cap, per Over the Cap. Adding the Eastern Michigan product could hamper the Lions' ability to extend most of their 2023 draft class, which includes Jahmyr Gibbs, Sam LaPorta, Brian Branch, and Jack Campbell.
