Maye misses practice with illness, shoulder injury
New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye sat out practice Friday while battling an illness and a shoulder injury, head coach Mike Vrabel told reporters.
Vrabel noted that Maye would've been on the field if not for the illness. Maye was limited in this week's other practice sessions because of the issue with his throwing shoulder.
There is no indication that Maye's availability for Super Bowl LX against the Seattle Seahawks on Feb. 8 could be in doubt.
Maye hadn't missed a practice all season before Friday.
Maye's passing efficiency is down considerably in the playoffs compared to the regular season, prompting concerns about the state of his shoulder.
Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold has also played through injury in the postseason, managing an oblique problem while steering Seattle to an NFC championship.
