The Buffalo Bills are interviewing Mike McDaniel on Friday for their vacant head coaching job, a source told Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer.

McDaniel will reportedly take the Los Angeles Chargers' offensive coordinator position if he doesn't land a head coaching role.

The Miami Dolphins fired McDaniel in early January after a four-year run as head coach. He's already interviewed for vacancies with the Falcons, Ravens, Titans, Browns, and Raiders over the last few weeks.

McDaniel went 35-33 during his Miami tenure with two playoff appearances. The Dolphins' offense ranked eighth in total yards and 12th in EPA/play from 2022-25 with McDaniel at the helm, according to Ben Baldwin's database. He spent five years in San Francisco working under Kyle Shanahan before taking Miami's head coaching job and was the 49ers' offensive coordinator in 2021.

The Bills fired head coach Sean McDermott on Jan. 19 and have already completed interviews with Brian Daboll, Lou Anarumo, and Joe Brady. Buffalo also has reportedly scheduled interviews with Grant Udinski, Anthony Weaver, and Anthony Lynn.

Buffalo's new hire will be quarterback Josh Allen's second head coach since entering the league in 2018. Allen has sat in on all the Bills' interviews thus far, according to The Athletic's Dianna Russini.
