Brady pledges late support for Patriots in Super Bowl
Tom Brady posted a message of support for the New England Patriots on Friday, abandoning the neutral stance he initially took for Super Bowl LX.
The retired quarterback previously declined to support his former team of 20 years against the Seattle Seahawks.
"I don't have a dog in the fight in this one," he said on the "Let's Go!" Sirius XM podcast at the beginning of Super Bowl week. "May the best team win."
Brady, who now calls NFL games on Fox Sports and also owns a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders, drew backlash from both former and current Patriots over his initial neutrality.
Linebacker and team captain Robert Spillane said Thursday that Brady's lack of support "makes me sick." Brady's former teammates Vince Wilfork and Asante Samuel were among the others to call him out for his position.
Brady won six Super Bowls with the Patriots but left the franchise to play his final three seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, spurring speculation of a rift late in his tenure. He won his seventh Lombardi Trophy with the Bucs.
