The Denver Broncos are opening running back J.K. Dobbins' 21-day practice window, the team announced Monday.
The tailback has a chance to play in Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots. Dobbins has been on injured reserve since mid-November after suffering a foot injury in Week 10.
The 27-year-old has five touchdowns this season while leading the Broncos in carries (153) and rushing yards (772). His 5.0 yards per carry ranked eighth among all running backs with at least 140 attempts this season.
Dobbins' return would be a massive boost to an offense that will be starting backup Jarrett Stidham the rest of the playoffs after Bo Nix suffered a season-ending ankle injury Saturday.
RJ Harvey has been Denver's go-to tailback in Dobbins' absence. The rookie tailback has posted 12 touchdowns and 896 total yards on 193 touches this season.
