Jets hire Reich as offensive coordinator
The New York Jets hired Frank Reich as their new offensive coordinator, the team announced Wednesday.
Reich previously served as head coach of the Indianapolis Colts (2018-22) and Carolina Panthers (2023). He spent last year as the interim head coach at Stanford.
"Frank has a rare combination of experience, creativity, and calm under pressure," head coach Aaron Glenn said in a statement. "He's lived this game from every angle - as a quarterback in this league and as a coach who's led offenses at the highest level. ... Frank understands offense and how to utilize the strengths of players. I am looking forward to how he will help this team have success."
The 64-year-old Reich will return to his roots as an offensive play-caller after holding the same role with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2016-17. He's credited for his work with Carson Wentz and Nick Foles during the Eagles' run to a Super Bowl LII victory.
Reich fills one of the most notable vacancies on Glenn's staff after the latter fired former offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand on Jan. 27. Reich becomes the Jets' 12th play-caller over a 16-year span, according ESPN's Rich Cimini. He joins fellow newcomer Brian Duker, whom Glenn hired as New York's defensive coordinator on Jan. 28.
The Jets interviewed several candidates before landing on Reich. They reportedly met with Miami Dolphins quarterbacks coach Darrell Bevell and former Los Angeles Chargers OC Greg Roman, among others.
New York finished 29th in points (17.6) and yards per game (263.6) in 2025. The Jets went 3-14 in their first season under Glenn.
