Report: Bucs fire OC Josh Grizzard
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fired offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Tampa Bay also parted ways with quarterbacks coach Thad Lewis, reports ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey has also been dismissed, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
The 2025 season marked Grizzard's first as an NFL offensive coordinator after the Buccaneers promoted him to replace Liam Coen, who took the Jacksonville Jaguars head coaching role.
Grizzard previously worked under head coach Todd Bowles and Coen as the pass-game coordinator in 2024.
After a promising 6-2 start, Tampa Bay's offense faltered in the final months of the 2025 campaign. The Bucs finished 20th in EPA/play and 22nd in success rate, according to Ben Baldwin's database.
Baker Mayfield, once considered an early MVP candidate after a hot start, struggled in the season's second half, ranking 30th in passer rating from Weeks 7-18. In 17 starts, Mayfield completed 63% of his passes for 3,693 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
The Buccaneers reportedly informed Bowles this week that he'll return as head coach for 2026. Tampa Bay went 8-9 this campaign and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2019. Bowles has recorded a 35-33 regular-season record in four years as the Buccaneers' head coach.
