Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson is declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft, he announced Wednesday.

He informed his coaches of the decision Wednesday morning.

Simpson helped Alabama reach the College Football Playoff this season, but the junior passer and the Crimson Tide's offense couldn't do much against Indiana in the Rose Bowl. He exited the 38-3 defeat in the second half with a rib fracture.

Simpson finished the 2025 season with a 64.5% completion rate to go with 3,567 yards and 28 touchdowns against five interceptions.

The 6-foot-2, 208-pound passer could've returned for another season in college football as an established NCAA quarterback. Instead, he's opting to enter the 2026 draft as a member of a thin class of QBs.

Simpson's widely seen as the No. 3 quarterback prospect in his class behind Indiana's Fernando Mendoza and Oregon's Dante Moore. Mendoza and Moore, who play each other in one of the CFP semifinals Friday, have yet to officially declare for the draft.

The Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets own the first two picks in the 2026 draft, and both teams need a new starting quarterback.
