Daniel Jones suffers Achilles injury in loss to Jaguars
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones was ruled out of Sunday's 36-19 loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars due to an Achilles injury.
Jones went to the ground following a pass attempt toward the end of the first quarter. He immediately grabbed at the back of his right ankle and then began slamming his helmet down in frustration while being treated by the Colts' medical staff. He exited the game after completing 5 of 7 passes for 60 yards and an interception.
"It could be season-ending, I don't have the full details on it," head coach Shane Steichen said postgame about Jones, per Fox 59's Dave Griffiths.
Steichen added that "it's not looking good."
Riley Leonard replaced Jones and completed 18 of 29 passes for 145 yards and an interception in relief. The team's 2023 first-round quarterback, Anthony Richardson, is on injured reserve.
The 28-year-old Jones had been playing with a left fibula fracture, saying previously he didn't consider it a significant concern. He'd been playing through the issue since the Colts' 23-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 23.

Jones has enjoyed a breakout season in his first year with Indianapolis. He led the Colts to an 8-4 record before Sunday's loss and passed for 3,041 yards, 19 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while completing 67.9% of his throws.
The Colts have lost three straight games since earning an overtime win over the Atlanta Falcons on Nov. 9, putting their postseason status in peril.
