Jaguars trade Campbell to Browns for Newsome
The Jacksonville Jaguars traded cornerback Tyson Campbell and a 2026 seventh-round pick to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for cornerback Greg Newsome and a 2026 sixth-rounder, the teams announced Thursday.
Campbell has recorded six passes defended and one forced fumble through five games this season. The Georgia product signed a four-year, $76.5-million extension in July 2024, which includes $53.4 million guaranteed, per Over the Cap.
Newsome, a 2021 first-round pick, spent five campaigns in Cleveland. The 25-year-old has 23 tackles and three pass breakups this campaign. He's in the fifth and final year of his rookie contract and earning $13.38 million in 2025.
The trade marks the second deal the Jaguars and Browns have completed this year. The sides swapped first-round picks in April's NFL draft, with Jacksonville selecting Travis Hunter second overall and Cleveland choosing Mason Graham at No. 5.
The Browns have been one of the most active teams on the trade market in recent days. Cleveland acquired offensive tackle Cam Robinson from the Houston Texans and sent quarterback Joe Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals.
