Ravens signing Gardner-Johnson amid injury woes
The banged-up Baltimore Ravens are adding reinforcements to their defense with the signing of veteran safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, his agent told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Gardner-Johnson is joining the practice squad, though he could be elevated quickly due to the Ravens' injury issues, Pelissero adds.
Baltimore played without multiple defensive starters during Sunday's 44-10 blowout loss to the Houston Texans, including Roquan Smith and Kyle Hamilton, among others.
In addition to Gardner-Johnson, the Ravens also picked up safety Alohi Gilman on Tuesday in a trade that sent Odafe Oweh to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Gardner-Johnson was released by the Texans on Sept. 23 after appearing in just three games. The split reportedly stemmed from issues behind the scenes.
The 27-year-old has 18 career interceptions, with six coming last year as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.
