Report: 49ers' Purdy could miss more games after toe injury setback
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy could miss additional games after aggravating his toe injury last week, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
Purdy, who's inactive Thursday against the Los Angeles Rams, sustained turf toe in Week 1 and missed two games. He returned last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars but suffered a setback during the matchup, according to Rapoport. An MRI reportedly confirmed an aggravation of Purdy's turf toe.
The 25-year-old is now considered week-to-week, and his status to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Oct. 12 is uncertain, Rapoport adds. Purdy has completed 65.8% of his passes with 586 yards and four touchdowns against four interceptions in two appearances this season.
Purdy, who's battled multiple injuries since joining the 49ers, signed a five-year, $265-million extension this past offseason.
The 49ers will presumably continue to rely on Mac Jones under center if Purdy misses more time. Jones has 52 NFL starts under his belt, including three this year. He joined San Francisco as a free agent in March.
