Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray expressed remorse after posting a now-deleted Instagram photo of him in a Michael Vick jersey with his pitbull.

"In no way, shape, or form do I condone animal cruelty or dogfighting," Murray said Wednesday, according to Arizona Sports.

Vick served 21 months in federal prison after pleading guilty in 2007 to operating a dogfighting ring.

Murray, who mentioned that he grew up admiring Vick as a quarterback, said he decided to take the photo down after seeing "how it affected people."

"My dogs, Trunks and Swoosh, they both get treated like kings," Murray said.

He added: "I apologize to anybody and whoever I affected."

A former No. 1 overall pick, Murray has the Cardinals off to a 2-0 start this season. Arizona faces the undefeated San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
