Fields out vs. Bucs due to concussion
New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields will miss Sunday's matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to a concussion, head coach Aaron Glenn announced Wednesday.
Tyrod Taylor will get the start against Tampa Bay, Glenn added.
Fields appeared to suffer the injury after being sacked by Bills edge rusher Joey Bosa in the fourth quarter Sunday. Taylor replaced Fields for the remainder of the game. The veteran completed 7 of 11 passes for 56 yards and a touchdown.
Fields signed a two-year, $40-million contract as a free agent with New York after spending 2024 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 26-year-old passed for 218 yards and tallied three total touchdowns in a 34-32 season-opening loss to Pittsburgh. He struggled in his second outing, completing only 3 of his 11 pass attempts for 27 yards prior to exiting the game.
Taylor, who has started 58 games in his career, will make his first start since 2023 when he was a member of the New York Giants.
