The Philadelphia Eagles wanted Micah Parsons.

The reigning Super Bowl champions called the Dallas Cowboys this summer to inquire if a trade for Parsons was possible, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. However, the Cowboys reportedly had no interest in trading the star pass-rusher within the NFC East.

A contract dispute that continued throughout training camp culminated in the Cowboys sending Parsons to Green Bay last week. Dallas received two first-round picks and three-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman Kenny Clark. Meanwhile, Parsons signed a historic four-year, $188-million contract with the Packers that includes $136 million guaranteed.

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones defended the trade as being in the "best interest of our organization." Jones previously said he'd ironed out an extension during a private conversation with Parsons in March before the pass-rusher's agent shut it down.

A four-time Pro Bowler, Parsons has racked up 52.5 sacks since joining the league as a first-round pick in 2021.

The Eagles and Cowboys kick off the NFL season Thursday night.
