The San Francisco 49ers and receiver Jauan Jennings agreed to a deal that will add $3 million in play-time incentives to his contract, his agents told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Jennings, who was set to earn close to $7.5 million this season, could earn up to $10.5 million in the final year of his deal before becoming a free agent next offseason, adds Schefter.

The 28-year-old requested a new contract or a trade from the Niners in July, but San Francisco said it wouldn't move him. Jennings settled for the short-term raise over a multi-year extension, according to Schefter.

Jennings finished second on the 49ers with 77 receptions for 975 yards and six touchdowns in 2024. The Tennessee product missed most of this preseason while dealing with a calf injury.

San Francisco has been dealing with an injury-plagued receiving corps throughout training camp. Brandon Aiyuk is set to miss at least the first four games of the season as he continues to rehab a torn ACL sustained last season. Demarcus Robinson will serve a three-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Jacob Cowing and Jordan Watkins are also nursing injuries ahead of the Niners' opener.

Jennings is expected to begin the season as a starting wideout alongside Ricky Pearsall.

"We love J.J. When he is not there, he is greatly missed," head coach Kyle Shanahan said earlier this week, according to The Athletic's Matt Barrows. "The way he carries himself, the energy he plays with and how good of a player he is makes everyone very excited."

The 49ers will go on the road Sunday to play the Seattle Seahawks to open the season.
