Report: Ravens sign Hamilton to record 4-year, $100.4M deal
The Baltimore Ravens and Kyle Hamilton agreed to a historic four-year, $100.4-million extension Wednesday that makes him the highest-paid safety in NFL history, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
The extension also contains a record-breaking $82 million in guaranteed money, Schefter adds. The previous benchmark in guaranteed money for a safety was $45 million by Antoine Winfield Jr. of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Hamilton's average annual value of $25.1 million smashes the previous record set by Detroit Lions safety Kerby Joseph, who averages $21.25 million per year.
Name | Average Annual Value |
---|---|
Kyle Hamilton | $25.1M |
Kerby Joseph | $21.25M |
Antoine Winfield Jr. | $21.025M |
Derwin James | $19M |
Budda Baker | $18M |
Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta confirmed the four-year extension would make Hamilton the top-paid player at his position but didn't reveal the exact terms.
"I think the deal really does speak to how we feel about Kyle," DeCosta told reporters. "Highest-paid safety in the NFL. That's a responsibility that we don't take lightly."
Hamilton is the latest Ravens player to ink an extension this offseason, joining running back Derrick Henry, offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley, and wide receiver Rashod Bateman.
A first-round pick in 2022, Hamilton has blossomed into one of the league's most dynamic defenders. He's made the Pro Bowl in each of the last two seasons and earned a first-team All-Pro nod in 2023 after recording four interceptions, three sacks, and 81 tackles.
