Aaron Rodgers criticizes new helmet: 'Looks like a damn spaceship'
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers isn't a fan of the new helmet he's been wearing at practice this year.
"I don't like it," Rodgers said Tuesday, according to Brendan Howe of Steelers Now. "I'm trying to change. We're in the process still. It looks like a damn spaceship out there."
Rodgers wore the Schutt Air XP Pro Q11 LTD last season. However, that specific helmet model has been banned because it doesn't meet the NFL's new safety standards. Now the 41-year-old's been practicing in the Schutt Air XP Pro VTD II with a custom F7 facemask and a two-point cloth chinstrap.
"We got to change it," Rodgers added. "The facemask doesn't fit the helmet because that's an old facemask, obviously, just like I'm old. But we're trying to find the right helmet right now."
Rodgers complained about changing his helmet after joining the Steelers at minicamp.
"I've worn a Schutt for 20 years and somehow it finally didn't pass the safety standard," the four-time NFL MVP said in June, according to ESPN's Brooke Pryor.
For the equipment folks, Aaron Rodgers settled on another @schuttsports helmet after his previous one was banned. Of the one at #Steelers minicamp (first pic), he said, “I can’t stand the helmet.” He opened training camp with one closer in design to his old one (last two pics). pic.twitter.com/4jbYgKwo15

Rodgers may not feel comfortable in his new helmet, but it didn't prevent him from making big plays during Tuesday's practice.
