Report: Cowboys' Parsons misses practice with back issue
Disgruntled Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons missed his first training-camp practice Thursday while dealing with back tightness, sources told ESPN's Todd Archer.
Parsons reportedly received treatment during the workout.
The All-Pro defender recently requested a trade from the Cowboys amid stalled contract talks with the team. The 26-year-old is entering the last year of his rookie contract and is expected to become one of the NFL's highest-paid defenders when he signs a new deal.
Parsons said July 22 that he was still dealing with a back issue that also bothered him at minicamp, according to Archer. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who's said he doesn't plan to trade his top defensive player, also revealed that Parsons' back issues are part of their negotiations.
Jones has also expressed pessimism about Parsons playing in the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 4.
The No. 12 pick in 2021, Parsons has taken the NFL by storm, registering 52.5 sacks and 63 tackles for loss in 63 regular-season games.
