The Minnesota Vikings and safety Josh Metellus agreed to a three-year extension worth $36 million, his agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The contract has a maximum value of $42 million and includes $25 million in guaranteed money, Schefter adds.
Despite seeking a new deal, Metellus continued to participate in training camp.
The 27-year-old has been a key player for the Vikings' defense over the past two seasons, with his versatility to play all over the field being his strongest asset. Metellus totalled 219 tackles, three interceptions, nine tackles for a loss, five forced fumbles, and 2.5 sacks over the last two years.
