Wilson: Nabers 'big reason' I signed with Giants
New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson said playing with star wide receiver Malik Nabers was one of the primary reasons he decided to join the team during the offseason.
"I came here because of him, big reason (for) it," Wilson said Saturday while seated next to Nabers at Fanatics Fest, according to Anthony Rivardo of Empire Sports Media. "Also, too, we've got a lot of guys who have put a lot of hard work into it. We've got a really good defense, rushing the passer. We've got a lot of dudes. That's a good thing."
The Giants signed Russell, 36, to a one-year, $10.5-million contract in March after the 10-time Pro Bowler threw for 2,482 yards with 16 touchdowns and five interceptions in 11 games with the Pittsburgh Steelers last season.
Nabers, 21, racked up 1,204 receiving yards with seven touchdowns and an NFL rookie record 109 receptions last season despite missing two games due to a concussion.
The Giants will report for training camp Sunday for physicals before hitting the field Monday. The club starts its season Sept. 7 against the Washington Commanders.
New York went 3-14 last year en route to finishing last in the NFC East.
