Titans' Ridley appreciates Ward's 'F--k it' mentality

Tennessee Titans receiver Calvin Ridley praised rookie quarterback Cam Ward for his demeanor as the two continue to form a connection during OTAs.
"He's calm. He's relaxed," Ridley told reporters Tuesday, including ESPN's Turron Davenport. "You need that at the quarterback position, man. You can't just be an overthinker, a jittery guy. You've just got to kind of be OK with, you know, fucking up, doing good."
He added: "You've just got to have that 'fuck it' mentality. He's kind of got that."
Ridley is coming off an inconsistent 2024 campaign, recording 64 receptions for 1,017 yards and four touchdowns in his first year with the Titans. However, inconsistent quarterback play hampered Tennessee's offense, with Will Levis and Mason Rudolph lining up under center.
Looking to move on from last campaign's 3-14 record, the Titans selected Ward with the first overall pick in the NFL draft in April. The Miami product will compete for the starting role alongside Levis, Brandon Allen, and Tim Boyle.
Ridley said he's drawing on lessons he learned last season to build a bond with Ward. He added he's taken a proactive approach in creating a rapport, asking the rookie signal-caller, "What do I need to do to make you feel better?" as they work to get on the same page.
While Ridley had high praise for Ward's composure, the admiration appears mutual.
"That man's a dog," Ward said about Ridley, according to reporter Paul Kuharsky. "He can win versus press-man, he knows zone, I think he's one of the top five receivers in the NFL, if not the best. I'm blessed to play with him. He's going to make me look good every chance I get to throw the ball to him."
