The Cleveland Browns announced Monday that they signed quarterback Shedeur Sanders to his rookie contract.

The deal is a standard four-year rookie pact worth $4.6 million, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. The Browns drafted Sanders in the fifth round in April after the 23-year-old, once projected as a potential top pick, slid down the board.

Sanders is one of five signal-callers on Cleveland's roster, alongside Deshaun Watson, Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Dillon Gabriel. Watson, the only remaining passer from the Browns' 2024 campaign, ruptured his Achilles for the second time in three months in January and is set to miss most of the 2025 season.

The Browns plan to evaluate their remaining quarterback depth throughout OTAs, mandatory minicamp, and potentially training camp as they determine a QB1, Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot reports.

Sanders threw for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns in 2024 for Colorado, rushing for an additional four touchdowns. He was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year after leading the Buffaloes to a 9-4 record.
