The Dallas Cowboys acquired wide receiver George Pickens as part of a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team announced Wednesday.

In addition to Pickens, Dallas will receive a 2027 sixth-round pick in exchange for a 2026 third-round selection and a 2027 fifth-round choice.

Pickens is entering the last year of his rookie deal and has been linked to trade rumors since the Steelers acquired DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks in March. Pittsburgh landed Metcalf and a sixth-round pick in exchange for a second-round selection and a seventh-rounder.

The Pickens move comes after Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said April 22 that his team was working on "substantive" trades. Dallas' plan is for Pickens to play out his rookie deal with the team, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Pickens, 24, finished last season with 59 receptions for a team-high 900 yards and three touchdowns. The 2022 second-round pick previously posted a career year in 2023 with 63 receptions and 1,140 yards, good for an NFL-leading 18.1 yards per reception.

Adding a new playmaker to line up opposite All-Pro receiver CeeDee Lamb was a priority for the Cowboys, who didn't select any pass-catchers in the 2025 NFL Draft. Dallas also reportedly has interest in reuniting with veteran wideout Amari Cooper.

Lamb seemingly reacted to the Pickens trade on social media to welcome his new teammate. They now headline a Cowboys wide receiver depth chart that includes Jalen Tolbert, Jonathan Mingo, and Jalen Brooks.

Meanwhile, the Steelers - who still have a major question at quarterback as they continue to wait for Aaron Rodgers - roster Calvin Austin, Roman Wilson, Ben Skowronek, and Robert Woods, among others, as WR options behind Metcalf.
