Linebacker DeMarvion Overshown is swapping his No. 13 jersey to become the first player in Dallas Cowboys history to don No. 0.

"As soon as they changed the policy where you can now wear No. 0 in the NFL, I just knew it was meant to be," Overshown told team reporter Patrik Walker.

He added, "It's just like when Superman put on his cape, when I put that No. 0 on, it's really Agent 0 out there."

Overshown will return to his roots, wearing the number he sported in college at Texas.

"Being the first one to wear it at Texas, growing up a Longhorn and a Cowboy in the great state of Texas - I wear it as a badge of honor," Overshown said. "It's not too many people that get to say they're the first to do anything, and to say I'm the first to wear No. 0 at Texas and the first to do it in Dallas Cowboys history, that's a badge of honor."

The NFL began allowing the use of No. 0 for the 2023 season. Former safety Jayron Kearse was set to be the first Cowboys player to wear the number but ultimately switched to No. 1 after wearing No. 27 in 2021 and '22.

Overshown displayed flashes of his potential during his 2024 campaign. The dynamic defender recorded 90 tackles, including eight for loss and five sacks, and one interception. The 2023 third-round pick tore his ACL, MCL, and PCL in his right knee in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals in December.

It's unclear when the promising linebacker will be cleared to return to competition. Overshown also missed the 2023 season after tearing his ACL in a preseason matchup.
